For family members who are not big water fans, please join us on deck in shorts and a t-shirt to enjoy the fun!

Children wearing diapers are welcome in the pool as long as they wear swim diapers or snug fitting rubber pants over the diaper underneath a bathing suit. Swim diapers along with other swim-related merchandise are available to purchase at the front desk.

View our current Recreation Times brochure for a detailed list of aquatic programs for participants of all ages. A registration form also is available to download in order to save you time during the registration process. You may now fill out the form online with your pertinent information; print, sign and date where applicable; and bring it along with payment to the Recreation Center to enroll in classes or activities of your choice.

Swim Lessons

Swim lessons for everyone 4 years and older are offered throughout the year following the American Red Cross Certification procedures. All instructors are certified Water Safety Instructors. The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program is to help people learn to be safe when they are in, on or around water. The program covers skills and knowledge in a logical progression for aquatic skill development. As participants develop these skills, they will become safer and better swimmers. Each participant progresses according to his or her ability and at the discretion of the Water Safety Instructor.

Lessons are taught during open swim hours. Staff insures there is adequate room to teach these classes as well as provide space for the public. We ask swimmers to please be aware and courteous to those teaching and participating in the Learn-To-Swim program.

Please Note: During swim lessons there will NO LONGER BE OPEN SWIM in the leisure pool from 8 to 11 A during the summer and 5 to 6 P in the fall. Limited lap swimming as well as the hot tub and therapy pool will still be available. Thank you for your cooperation.

When enrolling for swim lessons please present the report card last received indicating the level passed. Classes are limited and fill on a first-come basis. Please be advised that enrolling for multiple sessions does not guarantee placement in the next level for one of the paid sessions. This can only happen if there is space available in the level passed into. Also, please note that times and dates of swimming activities are subject to change to meet the demands of the pool and programs. Parents are welcome to watch their child in lessons from outside the hallway windows.

Aquatic staff introduces two private swim lesson options:

1. Private Swim Lessons
These lessons offer one-on-one instruction for all ages and abilities. Classes are 30 minutes long and can be scheduled  when group lessons are not available. An instructor will contact registered participants within 3 to 5 day to schedule your lesson at a mutually agreed upon time.

2. Home School Swim Lessons
Special swim classes are designated for home school youth this September 2010 through April 2011 (excluding December) on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 P. Cost is $10 per month.

Please contact the Aquatic Office at 307.527.DIVE to arrange private lessons.
